Arsenal are keen to sign a left-back while the Gunners brace themselves for an offer from Juventus for Gabriel Magalhaes.

Since joining the north London club in 2020, Gabriel, 24, has become a mainstay in Mikel Arteta’s defense and has developed a strong partnership in defense with Ben White.

Juventus have been watching his development at the Emirates and are reportedly keen on signing the Brazilian to replace outgoing veteran Giorgio Chiellini.

Football manager Mikel Arteta claps his hands.

Corresponding The Athletic, Arsenal are aiming for a new centre-back to play at left flank this summer but claim any new signing will be recruited as a cover for the former Lille defender.

Arteta would be disappointed to lose his star defender who has played a significant role in improving his side’s defense this season.

The north Londoners qualified for next season’s Europa League and need a bigger squad to handle the extra games.

Earlier this year, Arteta indicated he would like 22 top-class outfield players.

Even with Gabriel it was thought Arsenal would bring a defensive understudy with only Rob Holding and White the other options in central defence.

Pablo Mari is expected to join Udinese permanently this summer while Konstantinos Mavropanos has already signed for Stuttgart.

Meanwhile, starlet William Saliba has suggested staying at Marseille on loan rather than returning to the Emirates.

Aside from his defence, Arteta also needs to improve his attack and is reportedly aiming for a deal for Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus.

In midfield, Leicester’s Youri Tielemans has been linked with rumors linking Arsenal with a £25million bid.

However, without Champions League football, it remains to be seen whether the club can pull off their top targets.
