Arsenal will continue to engage in talks Manchester City are reportedly set to try to reach an agreement to sign Gabriel Jesus today.

Mikel Arteta needs a new striker following the departures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Eddie Nketiah, who is expected to sign a new contract, is currently the only senior recognized forward in the squad, meaning additions are needed.

Jesus is a priority for the north Londoners but City are said to have a £50million asking price which the Gunners appear unwilling to match so far.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports Arsenal will hold talks with City again today, Thursday, to try and agree a deal.

If no agreement can be reached, the Gunners will move on and pursue other goals.

“Gabriel Jesus is Arsenal’s main target to date,” Romano wrote in his Caught offside on Thursday morning.

“There will be new contacts over the next few hours to understand if they can reach an agreement or move on to other goals.

‘It’s not just Arsenal on Gabriel who will 100% leave Manchester City. He’s a top player who wants to play from the start and it’s not too surprising that he’s taking his time making a decision about his future.

Speaking of possible alternatives, Romano added: “I am aware that there has been speculation that Arsenal are one of the clubs looking for a deal for Christopher Nkunku.

“I’ve always insisted RB Leipzig are determined not to sell, so it’s not easy for Arsenal.

“So far, Leipzig haven’t received any offers from the Gunners for Christopher Nkunku, but I can reveal that Chelsea have been following him for some time.

“Nevertheless, the price is over 100 million euros because Leipzig wants to keep him at all costs and could even offer him a new contract in the summer. Of course, Chelsea are struggling with Romelu Lukaku up front so it’s not surprising that Nkunku could be seen as a replacement, but there’s not much to report at the moment.
