Chelsea are facing a decision on the future of one of their brightest young talents, Levi Colwell, which is attracting interest from Arsenal.

The England Under-21 international has enjoyed a reputation-boosting season and is on loan at Huddersfield Town, who are aiming for a Premier League return ahead of this weekend’s Championship play-off final against Nottingham Forest.

Scouts from several top clubs will be present at Wembley but Chelsea have already received inquiries from London rivals Arsenal as well as Leicester City, according to Goal.

Thomas Tuchel needs to overhaul his defense this summer as Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen will go on free transfers.

Doubts remain over the future of Cesar Azpilicueta and Malang Sarr, while veteran Thiago Silva turns 38 ahead of the Winter World Cup in Qatar in September.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move from Sevilla’s Jules Kounde and are expected to sign the France international soon after he came close to recruiting the highly-rated centre-back last August.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Presnel Kimpembe, Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez and Torino’s Gleison Bremer are also said to be targets, while 20-year-old RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol is also on Tuchel’s radar.

Any move for the Croatia international would likely block Colwill’s path into Chelsea’s first-team and he is unlikely to settle for a supporting role next season.

The Blues therefore face an important decision and will keep in mind their decision to let Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guehi leave within six months.

Both are now members of England manager Gareth Southgate’s plans and were added to the squad earlier this week ahead of this summer’s Nations League games.

Colwill, meanwhile, has been compared to Chelsea legend John Terry, a comparison partly due to his decision to wear the No. 26 shirt while on loan with the Terriers.

“Everyone says it’s because of John, but it’s because it’s my birthday today (Colwill was born on February 26, 2003),” the defense attorney said The Athletic recently.

“Growing up, it was my number, even if I only played one football game on the Playstation.

“When Huddersfield told me I would get the No. 26 jersey, it was perfect. Obviously all the Chelsea fans started comparing me to John Terry. So have I ever thought about switching? No.’

He added: “I’ll take it. I won’t complain. It’s not a bad thing to be called the new John Terry.

“I didn’t make the comparison myself so the fans and media can make whatever comparisons they want to make, it won’t affect me.

“John Terry is a club legend and leader, someone every Chelsea centre-back should look up to. A great guy and player.

“I haven’t had the opportunity to speak to him much. When he was around the academy building we would have a few little chats but it was more of a ‘hello how are you?’ not on a personal level about football or anything like that.”
