Hector Bellerin says he will make ‘every effort’ to stay at Real Betis but admits it will be ‘difficult’ to leave Arsenal on permanent transfer.

The 27-year-old, who has been at Arsenal since 2011, spent this season on loan at Spanish club Real Betis.

Bellerin impressed for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, making 32 appearances in all competitions and helping Betis finish fifth in La Liga.

The Spanish right-back is now set to return to Arsenal but insists he will try to secure a permanent move to Real Betis this summer.

Speaking of RTV BetisBellerin said: “I have made my position clear to both clubs. Now we have two months to get the best deal for all three parties.

“I’ve always said I’ve made an effort to come here and I’m willing to do anything to keep it going because it’s my home and I’m happy.

“It’s also true that I had very nice moments in London, in England. Arsenal gave a lot, the opportunity to turn pro.

“If I leave it will be difficult, but hopefully things will go the way we want.”

Bellerin spent nearly a decade at Barcelona’s academy before joining Arsenal in 2011, making 239 appearances for the Gunners.

He won two FA Cups under Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger and one under current boss Mikel Arteta but had slipped down the pecking order before his move to Spain.

Real Betis are also keen for Bellerin to extend his spell at the club but the player’s wages of around £100,000 a week could prove a stumbling block.

However, Bellerin has made it clear just how much he enjoyed his loan and endeared himself to Betis fans, writing on Instagram: “Even if I’ve tried, it’s very difficult for me to express what this year has meant to me .

“There are no words to describe my feelings so hopefully these images will help to understand them.

“Thank you to everyone in the Betis universe for helping me fall in love with this sport again, for all your passion and for making me feel like one of yours from the start.

“I want to thank my teammates for their kindness, humility and love since I walked into the dressing room. You made me feel like I’ve been a part of this for way longer than I have.

“Thank you to all the coaches and medical staff for their trust and work, but also to everyone behind the scenes at the club whose work goes unnoticed.

“Thank you to the Board and Directors for believing in me and helping to make one of my dreams come true, a dream that has exceeded any expectations I had when I set out on my journey to Villamarin.

“And of course I thank my family and people for their unconditional love and support and for introducing me to this passion called Betis from the very beginning.

“THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU and I hope we can meet again, Viva el Betis.”
