A couple are said to have dumped the body of their teenage son behind a stone wall and lied that he ran away from home.

Amber-Leah Valentine, 41, and her husband Jon Imes, 41, reported their 16-year-old son as a runaway on Feb. 25 and claimed he was last seen the morning of the previous day, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

Three days later, sheriff’s deputies were called to investigate a death near Anson Smith and Indian Canyon streets in Kingman, the same Arizona city where the couple lives.

“A deceased white man was found wrapped in a blanket behind a stone wall,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post Monday.

The victim’s identity was not immediately known and the body was sent to a coroner to determine the cause and manner of death.

Then, last Thursday, Valentine called the sheriff’s office to report that she had freed her 14-year-old daughter. Valentine’s roommates Richard Pounds, 34, and Shioban Gujda, 39, were holding the young girl captive, her mother told MPs.

Valentine requested treatment for herself and her daughter and they were taken to a regional medical center. Valentine further confessed that she and her husband had dumped their son where the body was days earlier. She admitted that she lied when she said he ran away and that he was already dead when she reported him.

Imes also confessed to disposing of her son’s body and lying about him while escaping.

Valentine and Imes were both arrested and charged with criminal assignment or hiding a body. They were sent to the Mohave County Adult Detention Center.

The results of an autopsy of her son performed on Sunday are still pending and an investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, investigators questioned the couple’s teenage daughter at the medical center. She said Pounds shot her in the eye with a BB gun and she suffered other abuse at home. The Arizona Department of Child Safety has been notified and the girl is being treated elsewhere.

A search warrant was issued for the house on the 2300 Block of Packard Avenue where Valentine and Imes lived. Pounds and Gujda were taken into custody and interrogated. Pound has been arrested for the crime, while Gudja has been released – pending further investigation.
