Apple’s hilarious iPhone trick lets you put friends on hold with “call center music.”

YOUR iPhone has an option to put a caller on hold – and you might even be able to play them a crazy tune.

It’s not an obvious trait – but it’s important to learn.

There is a hidden button on the calling interface of your iPhone

Apple has hidden the tool in the iPhone app’s call display.

The trick was shared by TikTok creator @applesign, who regularly distributes iPhone hacks on the app.

His video has already received thousands of likes despite being shared less than a day ago.

First, join a call with someone.

And when you’re ready to put the person on hold, long-press the mute button.

Hold the button down until the icon changes to Hold.

Now that person can’t hear you (and you can’t hear them) until you turn off Hold.

The bad news is that you might not get call center music – it depends on your carrier.

Apple doesn’t currently offer you the option to choose your own tune.

However, some carriers do, so you might find that instead of a muffled beep, you already have a catchy tune.

Try calling a friend and putting them on hold for verification.

And some providers offer music as a premium upgrade for your plan, so it might be worth checking with your network.

Still, it’s possible to keep someone independent of music.

Just one thing…

That’s not the only musical iPhone trick in iOS.

There is a handy hack that works with the Shazam music identification tool, which was actually purchased by Apple.

You can add a quick shortcut to Apple Music detection in your control center.

This makes quick access much easier.

All you have to do is go to Settings > Control Center and then add music recognition to the bottom of the list.

If you then swipe into your control center (by swiping down on the top right of the phone) you can access it quickly.

Just tap the Shazam icon – which looks like an S – and you’re gone.

This allows untitled TikTok songs to be quickly identified.

And it can also discover songs that are playing in the real world near you.
