Anthony Hopkins stars in trailer for techno thriller Zero Contact

A new trailer for the techno thriller has been released, zero contactwith the two-time Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins.

In the film, Hopkins plays Finley Hart, an eccentric, genius tech mogul who created a global data-mining program. As he dies, Finley remotely sends a message via an artificial intelligence to five different agents, including his own son Sam Hart from Chris Brochu. The agents are tasked with reactivating “the Initiative,” a project Finley worked on during his lifetime that may hold the key to unlocking time travel.

The synopsis for the film teases what appears to be a sci-fi thriller married to a found-footage horror film in a press release:

“As sinister events unfold in the agents’ homes, they must decide whether entering their passwords will save the world… or destroy it.”

From the trailer, the film appears to be in the tradition of the newest permutation of the found footage genre, taking place on a computer desktop amid video calls, in the 2018 tradition Search or the thriller inspired by the 2020 pandemic hostwhich also occurs during a Zoom call.

However, this latest film has something of a Sci-Fi/Apocalyptic twist that sets it apart from previous forays into the genre, at least.

zero contact directed by Rick Dugdale, written by Cam Cannon and out May 27 in select theaters and on digital demand.
