Teen Mom OG star Amber Portwood has finally reached a happy point in her relationship with her daughter Leah, as well as her ex Gary Shirley and his wife Kristina.
Amber has a tumultuous history that includes substance abuse and addiction, domestic violence, and imprisonment, which she recently wrote about in her book. So you’re crazy too?
Due to her tough past and absence from Leah’s life, Amber struggles to develop a solid relationship with her 13-year-old daughter, who she shares with Gary.

However, Amber recently shared that she is doing well in regards to her relationship with Leah.
“We’re at a point now where it’s a fun relationship,” Amber said Ashley’s reality summary. “We’re not what people think we are anymore. She needed her time. She had to understand my past and deal with it.”
Amber shared that things have changed for the better since Teen Mom OG viewers last saw her and Leah’s relationship on TV.
“In the end she came up to me and said, ‘I will never judge you.’ I said, ‘I’m glad you said that because I don’t want you to judge anyone. I want you to keep an open mind,'” Amber revealed. “My daughter is so incredibly smart and a beautiful person.”
Amber is getting along with Gary and Kristina these days
Not only are things looking good between Amber and Leah, but Amber’s co-parenting relationships with Gary and Kristina have improved. So much so that Amber now considers herself and Gary “friends”.
Amber also had nice things to say about Kristina, which is a stark contrast to their previous parenting relationship. “[Gary] has a great wife. It’s kind of amazing when we’re all together,” Amber said.
“James considers them uncle and aunt. [Gary and Kristina’s daughter] Emile treated [James] like a brother. It’s amazing to see,” Amber revealed of her 3-year-old son James, whom she shares with ex Andrew Glennon.
Amber, whose line of goods Portwood AF was recently drawnmade it clear that if she dates someone, they have to be OK with her family dynamic for things to work between them.
“Whenever I get into a relationship, they have to be okay with the blended family,” she told the outlet.
Amber’s book details something of her troubled past — including hidden pregnancies, abortions, suicide attempts, and promiscuity — and she’s aware that Leah may eventually read it, but doesn’t think her daughter would be embarrassed by her mother’s book.
“Leah knows a few things. She knows what my mental illnesses are, and that’s a big step,” Amber revealed.
