Amazon worker says he broke the dress code by keeping his nails long

A TikTok creator who says they work for Amazon says they face a dress code violation for having long fingernails.

In the video, the author records them showing off their nails as the voiceover reads the words on the video: “The Amazon manager came to me and told me I needed to take my nails off or I needed to go home. So I reached out to the human resources department.”

The video has racked up more than 1 million views and more than 34,500 likes as of Saturday. Comments were split between supporting Amazon employees and claiming that there were rules against long nails. “If you already know the rules, why try to break them,” one person commented. The creator replied, “Um girl, they don’t have a nail policy. No one messing around here. “

According to W3demy.com, which sets out Amazon’s dress code, it “doesn’t have a specific policy on nails. You can categorize or lengthen your nails as you like. It doesn’t matter if it’s folded or long, but you have to pay attention to safety.”

Another said, “I mean… .they are as long as your fingers. I would think it would make the aforementioned job more difficult. They are trying to avoid a crash. The creator responded to the comment, “Let me say this once. Just [because] Just because you don’t know how to do nails doesn’t mean I don’t. “

One reviewer said that they are a production safety expert and that they “do not allow nails to be longer than real fingers because of safety/ergonomics issues”.

Daily Dot has reached out to the creator and Amazon for comment.
