TikTok user Angie (@angiebaby019) posted a now-viral TikTok in which she called night shift workers “a whole different animal” and then shared a story about a particular employee.

Much has been written about the psychological effects night shifts can have on people. In an FHE Health article, the author wrote that “night shift workers can develop depression” and the nature of their work hours “can adversely affect their relationships, family, and other aspects of their lives, which can lead to chronic stress, which in turn can lead to chronic stress.” can lead to stress. can eventually lead to depression or other mood disorders.”

However, depending on who you ask, it’s not really a chicken or egg scenario. There may be some people who would argue that the nature of night shift work attracts a certain type of personality. Others claim that a variety of different people work the night shift, and the decision to clock in during those hours doesn’t really determine what type of person an employee is.

Angie’s TikTok seems to suggest that there’s certainly a difference in people who work nights.

“Well, I’m a night supervisor and when I say the people I manage are a whole different animal,” she begins in the clip. “One of my staff came to talk to me yesterday and first he tells me how he was in prison for a while. So of course I’m wondering, why were you in jail?”

Angie goes on to say the man replied that he had been caught on a “murder spree” but then clarified that he was only joking.

“Then he’s like, ‘Nah, I’m just kidding, just kidding. It was just an attack,'” says Angie, saying the worker allegedly responded. “Just assault? Just one small attack and he was locked up for seven years.”

The TikToker says her subordinate, who guessed she was around 40, started asking inappropriate questions like whether she “likes black guys” and what the “oldest guy she would date” was.

Viewers who commented on Angie’s TikTok had a variety of different opinions on the matter. Some agreed that if you work the night shift, that’s part of the territory.

“I’ve worked overnight in a few places… Night workers are a different breed,” shared one user.

“We had a new guy who on his first date asked a coworker if she ‘ever dated a Mexican guy,'” wrote another.

And then there were those who noticed that she was wearing an Amazon vest and said it had more to do with the work at Amazon and less to do with the hours of the day people work.

“I’m a seller on Amazon. They’re a different breed,” said one user.

“The Amazon vest gives me ptsd,” shared another viewer.

“Don’t listen to negative comments from these people. They don’t understand how much we go through as Amazon executives,” said one user.

Some people seemed annoyed that Angie didn’t appreciate the fact that the employee was showing romantic interest in her.

“I never understood why it was unprofessional to take a look at interest, I’m a colleague. You guys spend almost every day together,” wrote one user. “Something has to spark.”

To which the TikToker replied: “It’s like you don’t give a shit where you eat…even considering I’m superior to these guys at work it’s like idk basic respect??? And he is also twice my age.”
