Amazon Flex Driver Says She Was Fired Over TikTok Videos

An Amazon Flex driver says she was fired for posting TikTok videos showing how much she loved her job.

The driver, Maddie Kerns (@musclemaddie97), says in a recent TikTok that Amazon has started investigating her Flex account because of her TikTok content. Amazon Flex, where she worked, is the company’s independent contractor delivery system. Amazon hires independent contractors like Kerns, who use their own vehicles to deliver packages on flexible schedules.

Kerns says she “loved” the job and often posted on TikTok to encourage other independent contractors to work for Amazon Flex as well. She says she promoted the company without being paid for it.

The TikToker claims Amazon Flex management “was offended or didn’t like it” that she posted about her job. She says someone reported her TikTok account, and she received an email notifying her that the company looked into her Flex account and said she violated privacy rules. However, Kerns says she never posts private information on her TikToks and appears to deny that she broke any terms.

@musclemaddie97 reply to @florgarcia2764 very unfortunate that this is happening because I loved delivering for Amazon!!!!❤️📦🫶🏼 @Amazon let me go back to work

“Very unfortunate that this is happening because I loved delivering for [email protected] let me go back to work,” Kerns wrote in the caption of her video.

However, the TikToker didn’t seem that upset about the situation at the time. In a comment below the video, she wrote: “LOL meanwhile apply for Amazon Flex!!! This really is the best job ever (I don’t earn commission!!).”

In another TikTok post Thursday, Kerns shared that after “three very long weeks of fighting with the company,” Amazon Flex deactivated her account and essentially fired her.

Viewers sent their condolences to TikToker but assured her that she would find a better job.

“Better things are to come for you and your family,” commented one viewer.

“I’m so sorry…they lost a really good worker but bigger and better things are coming!!!” commented another viewer.

Some viewers commented that Kerns and her TikTok videos were the reason they became interested in Amazon Flex themselves. Some even said they might boycott Amazon because she fired them.

“I’m so sorry! You’re the reason I joined Flex. So thanks for all the enlightenment and encouragement. I hope your next chapter is great. Happy,” said one user.

“Your videos were the only reason I downloaded the app in the first place and wanted to ride! It’s crazy that the next day they reactivated smh and then deactivated it. Shame on #amazon y’all have to do better,” wrote another user.

Another commented: “WHAT!! Time to boycott Amazon.”
