Alisha Fagan apologizes for the death of 69-year-old Sedat Hassan in a Sunshine accident

Fagan, who has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving that caused death and drug possession, was on four sentences of bail at the time of the accident and was facing about a dozen traffic offenses.
She was released on bail last year to undergo rehabilitation.

Fagan wept as Mr Hassan’s family remembered him as a beloved father and grandfather who spent much of his time looking after his disabled son, in statements read in court.
“My husband was my world, I can’t bring him back,” his wife said.
“My son, who has autism, gets up in the middle of the night and opens all the windows to look for his father.”
One of Mr Hassan’s sons said his father waited years to become a grandfather.

“Once he became one, he was only able to hold his grandson three times and be with him until he was four months old,” he said.
Fagan read a letter of apology to Mr Hassan’s family, saying they accept full responsibility for his death.
“I only have myself to blame. At the time of this tragedy I was a heavy alcoholic, had no impulse control, had no understanding of the consequences,” she told the court.
“I’ve spent the last nine months trying to improve every day so that it never happens again.
“Please know that I am not the same person then and now.”
The hearing was adjourned to May 9th.
