The French striker’s contract with the Emirates expires at the end of the month and despite talks about extending his stay in north London, a departure is now imminent.
The Athletic report that the 30-year-old is close to sealing a return to former club Lyon. Lacazette left Les Gones to join the Gunners in the summer of 2017 for a fee of £46.5million.
He will leave Arsenal after scoring 71 goals in 206 games for the club.
In February, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said the club would “make every possible effort” to bring the striker back to the club.
Lyon general manager Vincent Ponsot added: “He’s a player who interests us in everything he’s represented here.
“We’ve noticed his maturity and he’s someone the club has stayed in touch with.”
Arsenal faced the prospect of losing both Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah on a free transfer this summer, leaving them without a senior centre-forward at the club.
However, Nketiah is now expected to sign a new five-year deal with the Gunners after an impressive end to the 2021/22 season, scoring twice against Chelsea and Leeds and scoring against Everton on the final day of the game.
Arsenal are still hoping to sign another striker this summer, having already held talks with Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus.
Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also said to be on their radar.
