Alex Jones owes $965 million to Sandy Hook defamation lawsuit

A Connecticut jury found that Alex Jones owed Sandy Hook’s parents nearly $1 billion.

The parents of mass shooting victims had sued Jones for his constant lying about the shooting, calling the victims and parents crisis actors and denying that the shooting took place. Twelve plaintiffs are suing Jones and his parent company Free Speech Systems, which owns his news site InfoWars.

The court had ruled against Jones after he failed to turn over documents in the civil suit, and the jury ruled in damages. For three weeks, the jury heard testimonies from parents who endured Jones’ lies about the shooting for years.

The court awarded damages to each plaintiff and ruled on both defamation and defamation damages and emotional distress damages. In the verdict, plaintiff Robbie Parker was listed first and awarded the largest sum, $120 million. Parker had been a central focus of Jones after the shooting, who claimed he faked his despair at the loss of his child.

Other plaintiffs have been awarded damages ranging from $90 million to $28 million. For the plaintiffs, the total damage adds up to $965 million.

As Jones’ verdict was read, parents who had lost their children could be heard crying throughout the court.

An FBI agent was also awarded $90 million in damages.

In August, a court in Austin, where InfoWars is based, found Jones owed $49 million, meaning Jones was fined over $1 billion for his Sandy Hook statements. Jones faces another defamation lawsuit.
