Even though it wasn’t raining, it was broken glass that fell from the sunroof onto the sun visor. She drove straight to an auto shop, where they told her the damage was one shot and that a bullet could still be in it.
Chavez said she waited for police until Wednesday for three hours, and then Thursday morning, police went to her car to see if there were bullets inside.
“I’ve never had anything happen to me like this,” Chavez said. “I hear it, but personally, I’ve never had anything like this happen – where it makes you think, this could be my last day on this earth.”
Chavez said her grandson may have been in the car with her, as she drove him to school every morning.
