Albuquerque Charter School postpones resumption after winter break due to staff shortage

“Due to staffing shortages and available alternatives, NMIS will be closing today, January 3, 2022. We’re sorry for the last-minute announcement, but we have many teachers and staff members available. office staff, some of them on very short notice.”

The school, located in Montgomery and Louisiana, has been on winter break for the past two weeks.

The school’s website shows There have been five positive COVID-19 cases reported in the last week:

  • 3 students
  • 2 employees

Two of the staff members and one of the students tested positive on January 2. The other two students tested positive on December 28 and December 30. The whole year was on the campus. staff for the last time on December 17, before winter break.

New Mexico International School officials said they are currently planning to return students to school as soon as possible.

Principal Todd Knouse said Monday it was short of seven teachers and four office workers, with only one substitute teacher. Some classes may have to be virtual for the next two weeks.
