A worker unveils a huge pile of dishes ready for washing in the restaurant kitchen

In recent years, the hospitality and service industries have become the subject of viral TikToks, much like TV series The bear on Hulu and News discussing the ever-changing issues of employee retention and post-pandemic stress.

In a video with more than 1.1 million views, TikToker Sebastian (@sebastiansicajau) revealed a side of the business that most consumers don’t see: the kitchen.

With dishes stacked on the counters, floor and all service visible, Sebastian pans the kitchen with his camera to show the destruction after a night of service. Colleagues sprayed dishes and the floor and others put away the clean dishes.

In the comments, most users agreed that kitchen workers deserve more recognition.

“I’d rather tip them than the waiter,” said one user.

“I’m a waitress and all I can say is they deserve the tip more than any waitress. I did this job and I know how my back burns washing up for them,” shared another.

“The toughest job in the food industry, the most respected and underrated. Def deserves more recognition, pay, tips, bonuses, free food etc,” commented a third user.

Sebastian’s account often shares other restaurant-related videos that reveal parts of services that customers don’t typically see. The location and name of the restaurant are unclear.

The Daily Dot contacted Sebastian via TikTok comment as other contact options were unavailable.
