In a viral TikTok, a user of the video sharing platform says he was locked out of his Airbnb by his host and had to book a hotel room late at night.
Andrew Clark (@stringbeanboy13) posted the clip of himself in a hotel bed on Monday. The text overlay reads, “The Airbnb host has closed the deadbolt and I needed to book a hotel at 1am.”

“Love if this happens,” he wrote in the caption, tagging Airbnb. “I have emotional damage from not doing my skincare routine,” he wrote in the comments.
As of May 19th, TikTok has over 69,100 views.
Commenters urged Clark to report the incident to Airbnb in order to receive a refund.
Some viewers shared their own similar experiences. “It happened to me once and Airbnb offset the hotel stay that night > we made sure they offset at least 50% of the rest of the trip.”
Others wrote that Airbnb was “so sketchy”.
“Most professional Air BnB host,” commented another.
According to Airbnb’s website, “if something goes wrong during your stay,” the first step is to send a message to your host.
After that, you have 72 hours to submit a refund request and collect evidence to present to the Airbnb team. Travel issues covered by the Change and Refund Policy include the host’s failure to “allow access to accommodations.”
The Daily Dot emailed Clark and Airbnb for comment.
