A mystery surrounds a tide of expensive cars fished out of nearby canals

Two other cars were dumped in a Black Country canal – just four days after a Land Rover was pulled out by crane.
A blue car was spotted on the Dudley Canal yesterday while a large white car was lifted out of the Grand Union Canal by crane on Wednesday.
It comes after a luxury Landrover costing around £64,000 submerged in the New Main Line waterway in Tipton on Sunday.
The recent spate of discoveries is mysterious, and it’s unclear how they got there in the first place.
Kevin Davenport, who was walking when he saw the blue car, told the Express and Star, “I walk by the canal a lot and when I spotted it I was like, ‘This is disgusting.’
“It’s really gross because you think about all the liquids like oils, brake fluid damaging the duct.
“I saw the photos of the car on a channel in Tipton on Monday and now you think they’re somehow related.”
However, other locals have started to see the funny side of the situation.
One commenter said: “I heard it’s a good fishing spot and catches a lot of carp.”
The Land Rover is believed to have been stolen from Staffordshire but no owner has yet been located.
Canal officials suspect vehicles are being pushed in by hand rather than driven straight in.
It is likely that a driver would suffer serious injury if he was in a vehicle that fell several meters onto the hard bed of an empty lock.
A Canal & River Trust spokesman said: “We have been notified that a Land Rover car had entered factory lock number 3 on the Main Line Canal in Tipton.
“Fortunately there are no reports of injuries”
