A man was hit and killed on Friday morning on the Telegraph Road

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — An investigation is underway after a driver fatally struck a man Friday morning on Telegraph Road in southern St. Louis County.

The collision occurred around 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of Telegraph and Sappington Barracks streets. According to preliminary findings, investigators say the man was walking north on Telegraph Road. Eventually, the man stepped out from behind a post and drove in front of an oncoming vehicle.

The driver stayed at the scene until officers arrived, police said. The victim was found unconscious at the scene and pronounced dead.
