A fan-favorite fantasy with franchise potential gets new powers on Disney Plus

From the second Ransom Riggs’ Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children Released in 2011, it was clear that there was no one better suited to direct a hypothetical theatrical adaptation than Tim Burton.
Finally, the story follows a pale-faced outcast of a protagonist who discovers a mysterious family history with ties to a fantastical world hidden just beyond our own, which in turn leads him to the even paler and more mysterious title character, where a whole cacophony of outcasts have been crammed together to protect them from malicious forces.
Miss Peregrine wasn’t Burton’s most celebrated work behind the camera, nor his most commercially successful, but a 64% Rotten Tomatoes score coupled with a $296 million box office gross was a decent return for a big-budget fantasy with franchise potential.

In fact, Riggs has since written another five novels, but see the odds hollow city, Library of Souls, A Map of the Days, The Conference of Birdsand The Desolations of Devil’s Acre Live-action coming are virtually non-existent at this point, unless Disney plans to reboot the former 20th Century Fox property.
That didn’t prevent Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children struggling to become a reliable performer in streaming, and the fan favorite is at it again. According to FlixPatrol, the offbeat and eccentric adventure has soared high in Disney Plus’s most-watched rankings all weekend, with a new generation of home viewers poised to discover the magic for the first time.
