A Drake & Lil Baby collaborative album is reportedly in the works

The surprise album from Drake and 21 Savage your loss was a smash hit last year and a worthy follow-up to his previous collaboration with a trap rapper from Atlanta, 2015 What a time to be alive with future. And a sequel to What a time Apparently in the works before the COVID-19 pandemic, it looks like Drake’s next ATL team will be teaming up with another rapper he’s shown great chemistry with: Lil Baby.

That’s right: Drake and Lil Baby were reportedly working on an album together, says Drake Honestly forget it Staff black coffee. The South African DJ recently noted that Quality Control’s Coach K told him about the project during an interview, saying, “He told me Lil Baby and Drake were doing an album” (Lil Baby is signed to the Atlanta-based label ). He also noted that “it’s possible that Drake will retire,” reflecting a sentiment Drake himself shared with Lil Yachty, another QC artist.

If Drake and Lil Baby are truly working together on a joint project, it’s a fitting way to tie together a trilogy of projects involving Atlanta trap rappers whose careers he’s helped immensely, and the culmination of the growing chemistry between him and Baby . In 2018, Drake helped fuel ATLien’s rise to stardom with his feature Yes Indeed, which led to a series of similar collaborations such as Staying Alive and Wants And Needs Terrible hours 2. Baby was originally scheduled to appear on Toosie Slide, but Baby was busy with other commitments at the time.

Hopefully this time he’ll be able to keep up and help deliver what will almost certainly be a fan-favorite project in the vein of both rappers’ beloved projects together (Lil Baby previously collaborated gunna on Drip too hard).
