Miami-Dade County, Florida. – Miami Dade Fire Rescue units responding to a fire Saturday night.
Cellphone video from drivers captured the bright orange flames shooting out of an apartment along 13,000 block of SW 17th Lane in southwest Miami Dade.
Tom Lima, who owns the upstairs unit that sustained smoke damage from the fire, says the fire started in the unit below and then flames shot up.
“I remember coming here as a kid and this used to be my grandparents’ old apartment,” Lima said.
Miami Dade Fire Rescue tells Local 10 that no one was injured in the blaze and neighboring units did not have to be evacuated.
“It’s sad that I remember having memories with my family and now it’s going to be burned to a barbecue,” Lima added.
Our cameras caught the massive response from firefighters, police speaking to families during the investigation, crime scene tape surrounding the housing unit, smashed windows and unfortunately a dog that neighbors said died under a yellow tarp.
At around 8 p.m., a Peaceful Paws Pet Cremation Service vehicle removed the deceased dog.
According to the fire department, no one was injured in this fire, the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
