A calf injury is preparing West Coast Eagles’ Elliot Yeo for the opener against the North Melbourne Kangaroos

West Coast will unleash three AFL debutants in round one – Campbell Chesser, Reuben Ginbey and Noah Long – while former Demon Jayden Hunt will play his first game for the club.

Chesser, the 2021 National Draft No. 14, was on track to make his first round debut last year before suffering a serious ankle injury in the preseason.

Ginbey, the No. 9 pick in last year’s draft, impressed in the club’s pre-season hitout against Adelaide and is already being heralded as a star of the future.

Long was a rather speculative pick at No. 58 last year, but his impressive summer campaign catapulted him to a surprise first-round finish.

Meanwhile, West Coast defenders Brady Hough and Ruckman have re-signed Callum Jamieson through the end of 2025.
