Sometimes finding the best new R&B can be difficult, but there are plenty of great rhythm and blues tunes to tune into if you have the time to sift through the hundreds of newly released songs each week. To help R&B fans focus on hearing what they love, every Friday we feature a selection of the best new R&B songs fans of the genre need to hear.
Since the last update of this weekly R&B and Afrobeats column, we’ve received a ton of music and news from artists in the genre. 6lack began its new era and paved the way to its upcoming third album Because I have a lover with the release of the album’s title track and its free-floating music video. Chloe announced this In Pieces tour while Wizkid has postponed his More love, less ego tour about production problems. Elsewhere, Ari Lennox and Babyface released a stirring music video for their “Liquor” collaboration and SZAs SOS spent a tenth week at No. 1 on the billboard 200 diagram.

masego — masego
Almost three years after his last project, Masego returns to the music scene with a new work. His second album masego is here with 14 songs that are both tasty and mesmerizing. “I had to reevaluate a lot of things,” he says of his attitude towards the project. “I said, ‘I can’t do this the way I set out to do it. That’s why I can’t stay here. I have to move.'”
Kali Uchis — Red moon on Venus
“Love is the message,” says Kali Uchis about her third album. “Red moon on Venus is a timeless, burning expression of desire, heartache, faith and honesty.” All of this is evident throughout the album’s 15 songs, which feature Don Toliver, Summer Walker and Omar Apollo.
Jordan Ward — Forward
Whatever you do, please don’t let Jordan Ward’s debut album Forward flying under your radar. The project is awash with Ward’s unique touch, making for a refreshing project perfect for the warm months ahead. He’s also getting help from the likes of Joony, Ryan Trey, Gwen Bunn, and others to create the project that truly embodies his desire to “evolve and break cycles,” as he says in a press release.
Child – Better luck in the next life
For his third album Better luck in the next life, Child touches on the things he loves in life as well as some of the struggles he expressed. It makes for an honest and deep story told with the help of Lucky Daye, Alina Baraz, Charlotte Cardin and Caitlyn Scarlett. It’s a very honest record that starts to tell my story and answer some of the questions of why I’m doing this and who I am,” says Chiiiild of the project.
SHE. – “In the Mood” feat. Young Blue
Next month YOU. – the singer-producer duo consisting of Drew Love and Dante Jones – will release their third album No moon. For their latest offering, the duo return with their new single “In The Mood” featuring Yung Bleu. The track pays tribute to the 2000s era while also previewing the captivating music that awaits No moon
Mac Ayres – “Again”
Mac Ayres will release his fifth project on March 17th Comfortable enough. It is the continuation of his outstanding performance from 2021 Magic 8Balland thanks to his new project’s lead single ‘Again’, he looks set for the same success Comfortable enough.
lojay — Gangster Romance
Just like he did in 2021 LV N ATTNLojay arrives with a new project that is nothing short of an exquisite listen. Gangster Romance delivers six songs that take listeners on a warm journey through infectious beats. “I did this project because I wanted people to hear something that they could connect with and hold onto for a long time,” Lojay said in a press release.
Libianca – “People” Feat. Ayra Starr and Omah Lay
In a matter of months, up-and-coming singer-songwriter Libianca went from being an unknown name to one of the hottest young names in Afrobeat. She credits her breakout single “People,” and now the track gets a nice boost with a remix featuring Ayra Starr and Omah Lay.
WanMor — WanMor
After releasing a few warm-up singles, fraternal R&B group WanMor are here with their debut EP. The self-titled release features seven songs and a feature by King Combs for a project the group hopes will offer a glimpse into their musical thoughts. They added, “With this project, we just wanted to bring back the love, fun and excitement.”
