The connection between feet and lying is something most people don’t know about, James Millerlicensed psychotherapist with more than 25 years of experience best life. “Most people are good at monitoring their facial expressions, but what most people don’t realize is that the farther the limb is from the brain, the less we pay attention to what it’s doing,” he explains.

Clark says that an “easy way” to see if a person is lying is to watch their eye movements. “If they stop making eye contact, it’s a sign that the person knows they’re lying, and they’re reducing their guilt by looking away,” he explains.

The experienced lawyer also advises paying attention to the direction of view, because that could also be a decisive indication of untruth. “For example, if the person I’m asking is right-handed and looking up to the left, that’s a sign they’re trying to access their memory.
