3.6 magnitude quake near Julian

JULIAN, Calif. — An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.6 occurred near Julian on Monday afternoon, according to the US Geological Survey.

The quake was reported at 2:35 p.m. 14 miles east of Julian. The quake had a depth of 7 miles.

Three minutes later, an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.6 was registered in the same place. The quake was a quarter-mile deep, the USGS said.
