19-year-old killed in house explosion in Elk Ridge

A 19-year-old man died in an explosion at a home in Elk Ridge Home.

At 4:15 p.m., officers received a call about an explosion in the home’s garage, where several people were inside. The teenage male was later found dead, while the remaining residents of the building were uninjured.

It is currently unknown whether the explosion compromised the structural integrity of the building and the cause of the explosion remains under investigation.

According to Sgt. Spencer Cannon of the Utah County Sheriff’s Office reported that several surrounding roads were closed due to the possibility of the explosion scattering evidence over a wide area.
