17-year-old Utah girl hit and killed while riding bicycle

A 17-year-old Utah girl was killed Tuesday morning while riding her bike when she was hit by a garbage truck.

According to Tremonton Garland Police, the teenager – whose name has not been released – was riding her bicycle on the sidewalk near 1500 W. Main Street in Tremonton around 6 a.m. when the truck exiting a company lot she captured. The victim died at the scene of the crime.

The truck driver stayed on site and, according to the police, cooperated with the investigation.

According to the Box Elder School District, grief counselors will be at Bear River High School on Wednesday, where the victim attended.
