16th Kicks for Cancer Charity Event in Concord – Boston News, Weather, Sports

CONCORD, NH (WHDH) — A football event held at Concord-Carlisle High School had one goal in mind: to advance the prevention of ovarian cancer.

Kicks for Cancer began 16 years ago after the assistant coach of the Concord-Carlisle High School boys’ football team suffered a life-changing loss.

“It was created in honor of my mother who died of ovarian cancer in 2007 and it means so much to my family and now really to the whole community,” said coach Steve Wells.

Over the years the event has gained a lot of support; Teams from across eastern Massachusetts are now competing to raise money for the cause.

“It’s a pleasure to see it continue to grow,” said Trish Siefer, administrator at Kicks for Cancer.

“You can feel the love and purpose behind it,” said Johanna Lewis, who is also an organizer at Kicks for Cancer.
