PEMBROKE PARK, Florida. – The local nonprofit 100 Black Men of South Florida kicked off their 31st annual Thanksgiving Food Drive on Saturday, during which they plan to serve more than 70,000 people in South Florida in 2022.

The nonprofit 100BMSF has partnered with Publix, UPS, FPL, Feeding South Florida, NOMI HEALTH, SMC Medical Center, the Chris and Yvette Palermo Family Foundation, UTD – United Teachers of Dade and International Tech Partners to ensure this isn’t the case is going home before the holidays without eating.

The food drive took place at Feeding South Florida’s facility, located at 2501 SW 32nd Terr. in Pembroke Park.

According to event organizers, this effort started at Jorge and Jerry’s along with members delivering dinner, and now they have UPS delivering the meals using more than 35 trucks.

During the pandemic, the 100BMSF needed a facility that would allow them to flexibly adhere to COVID protocol while still serving the community. Feeding South Florida also stepped in to contribute.

According to a press release, the 100 BMSF, led by committee chair Bobby L Hall, has more than doubled its annual service offering in less than 12 months based on the growing needs of the community.

“The 100BMSF, along with our community partners, wanted to make sure we were supporting the residents of South Florida,” said Damian Thomas, President of the 100BMSF. “This achievement would not have been possible without our generous sponsors.”
