1 dead, another injured in an avalanche in the Weber Canyon backcountry

A deadly avalanche in Weber Canyon’s backcountry on Thursday afternoon killed one person and injured another, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Several agencies in the area responded after the avalanche was reported at 3:30 p.m

Life-saving measures were carried out on the two people buried in the slide, but one person died at the scene.
